Star Council, State Award and More

The Knights of Columbus John Paul II Council 13935 has closed the fraternal year with a remarkable string of achievements, earning both state and international recognition for its programs, service, and leadership.

At the final council meeting of the year, Grand Knight Joseph Saski proudly announced that Council 13935 had been awarded the Star Council Award by the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus. This distinction is the highest honor a council can receive and is given only to those councils that excel in membership growth, insurance promotion, charitable outreach, and overall program excellence.

In addition to this national recognition, the council also received the Pennsylvania State Council Activities Award in the Division I category. This honor celebrates our commitment to impactful programming and strong parish-community engagement throughout the year. Key programs such as the Food for Families dinners, Holy Hours, Special Olympics fundraisers, Silver Rose, ASAP Raffle, and Free Throw Championship were instrumental in demonstrating our council’s vitality and mission.

The council also took time to recognize outstanding individual achievements.

Dennis Mant, our longtime Financial Secretary, was honored with the Distinguished Service Award for his 16 years of unwavering dedication to the financial and administrative health of the council. Brother Dennis’s consistency, humility, and devotion to the mission of the Knights have laid the groundwork for much of our council’s stability and success.

In recognition of his exceptional leadership across numerous programs, Antonio Perito was awarded the Knight of the Year, presented to a brother Knight whose efforts played a key role in helping the council reach the high standards of the Star Council designation. Tony’s tireless work as Program Director and Life Director, along with his deep commitment to parish life and community service, exemplifies the Knights of Columbus’ mission of faith in action.

These accomplishments are not only a testament to the hard work of individual Knights but also to the collaborative spirit of our entire council. As we enter the next fraternal year, we look forward to building upon this momentum—serving our parishes, growing our brotherhood, and striving always to be “in service to one, in service to all.”
